Extended warranties are usually very inexpensive and can save you thousands in the future. Some can even cover extra costs that result, such as cost of food that spoils when your fridge dies. It's simple and inexpensive to purchase extended warranties and one of the smartest ways to protect your investment.

Appliances can be large, heavy and expensive. You probably don't have the special tools or expertise needed to fix them in a crisis. If you can spare a few thousand dollars without batting an eyelash for new appliances should they break tomorrow, don't buy a warranty. But if you're like most of us, protect yourself by purchasing inexpensive extended warranties when you buy a new product and save yourself big money in the long run.

Love It. It's so quiet and cools well.

PhillyKara 7/27/2022

Love It. It's so quiet and cools well. I bought one to try it and was very impressed. I then bought 3 more Gallery and took the other brand/model I bought back. I bought the 10,000 Gallery as well and also love it. Amazingly, I can lift both the 8K and 10K. Previously I could only lift and move a 6K window AC.

A/C unit

jd71 5/17/2022

Love it! It is quiet as advertised. This replacement has been great. The only negative is the remote. It's hard to see in the dark and you can't feel the buttons. Small issue compared with how quiet it is. This is in our bedroom so the sound was level was important to us.

Nice and Quiet

GvPghPa 5/11/2022

After 3 days of use, I couldn't be more pleased with this purchase. - The unit is exceptionally quiet; as quiet as central air/hvac.- The eco mode/auto fan (at 72° for me) adequately cools living room/dining room/kitchen, with little effort. Compressor on/off sound barely perceptible. - The Frigidaire App (android) has plenty of control options. Wifi/App setup to connect w/unit was made easier using the video/faq's.- Seamless connection to Google Home/Nest, using voice prompts to control unit.- Plugged into an appliance-grade smart outlet; will see how electricity use tracks, so too soon to comment on power use.So far I'm happy with this product and would recommend purchasing it.

Cooling well so far

Kyle 2022 5/1/2022

Just purchased this about a month ago. It has not been very hot here yet but that will come soon. I switched it on for a few nights and this is super quiet. I can hear a fly at night so I need quietness and this is great. I look forward to putting this to the test on these hot summer nights. My room is about 300 square foot so this should do the job.

Malfunctioned

Boom6374 4/14/2022

Install was simple. Unit looks stylish.Unit turned on upon plug-in and cool air quickly and amazingly quiet. Unit control panel would not respond to any button pushed. Activated the remote and the unit worked correctly using that. Unable to connect to wifi because the control panel didn™€™t work,so, returned for a different, comparable brand unit.

Very Quiet; Leaks a LOT of Daylight

DWHodges 4/4/2022

I purchased this window AC from Walmart to replace a much larger BTU Frigidaire unit that lasted a little over 5 years. This unit was delivered very quickly via FedEx, and displayed some minor damage to the shipping box. Part of the AC™€™s outer frame in the back was noticeably bent outward from the unit next to the condenser fins on the back. This made me question whether I had been shipped someone else™€™s returned unit. That kind of damage is unlikely to have happened while in the shipping box. This AC unit is Exceptionally quiet compared to an average window unit. (Don™€™t count on it for good white noise.) Unless you experience a brown-out (according to the literature), the AC will not retain your last used settings upon restart. The default setting is always Eco & Auto mode at 72 degrees. If that is not your preferred setup, you will have to change the programming each time you turn the unit on. Thatisn™€™t consumer friendly, but it is predictable as government exerts more control over our lives.Wi-Fi setup does work, but is a hassle. I registered my AC online, then basically had to go through most of the registration again, on my phone via the App, in order to get the App to work. There were multiple steps involved in making it work, so the lack of simplicity may be what confounded the negative reviewers.Styrofoam is used inside the unit as a barrier / insulator. I™€™m assume this is common to every AC these days since it is much cheaper than metal or plastic dividers. I mention this because I work overnight and have to sleep during daylight. I make significant efforts to ensure my room is dark, since multiple studies prove that light disrupts sleep and proper rest. Styrofoam does NOT Block Light; at all. My previous AC slidinto the mounting cage and allowed me to easily access its Styrofoam, which I painted with black acrylic paint. (*Caution: Some paints will melt Styrofoam.*) That solved the light seepage. With this new unit, I didn™€™t think to check this first, so I had tounmount it, detach the metal box-frame, and paint the Styrofoam block inside with Acrylic paint. Removing the metal casing was not easy. I initially tried placing aluminum foil on the indoor outer-side panels of the AC, which glowed brightly in sunlight, but that did not solve the issue. One sales site advertised ™€œAvoid bright, disruptive lights while sleeping with LED lights that automatically dim after a few moments of inactivity.™€ I'm sure we pay extra for this "feature" but pre-treating the Styrofoam to block disruptive light for daytime-sleepers / shift-workers is obviously not considered. The controls on the front face of the AC are nearly invisible if you are not really close and using very bright light. At my very first glance, I thought that the surface was just... dirty. The printing around the touch sensitive buttons is very light gray on a white background. When any control adjustment is made, the panel's LEDs light up temporarily then turn back off. (see: Styrofoam details light leakage previously discussed). On the Walmart page showing this 8k BTU unit, which is where I made my purchase, one of the photographs displays a rectangular remote control, about 1™€ thick, in the foreground. It is identical to the remote of my previous Frigidaire AC, and it allowedme to use the control as a remote temperature sensor. That was a nice feature. The remote for this unit does no such thing. This remote is flat, very thin, and the AC does not easily ™€œsee™€ the remote™€™s signal if it not directly in front of the AC. Slightly to the side does not seem to work.I find it™€¦ amusing that today™€™s air conditioners have begun trying to imply that the fact they use an air filter to ™€˜take dust out of the air™€™ (to protect the unit) equates it to an air purifier. I suppose that gives a rationalization to add an extra $50-$60 to the cost. Before my AC unit arrived, I searched the internet and found installation instructions, which I printed out. I am very glad I did so, as the font and diagrams in the provided booklet are ridiculously small.I™€™ve only used this AC unit for a bit over a week so far, but it seems to do a fairly good job of maintaining a constant temperature, +/- about 2 degrees Fahrenheit. I live in South Texas, and daytime highs are already reaching into the 90™€™s. (I glance at my room thermometer when I have to get up for nature calls while sleeping.)I initially attempted to post this review on the Walmart website, and meeting their stated length limitations, but Walmart eliminated everything I wrote beyond the middle of my second paragraph. I felt it might be helpful to a few potential shoppers to try posting my review again, here. Please forgive me for any editing issues; this webpage only allows you to view 4 lines at a time when you are writing. I have separated issues into paragraphs, but have no clue if those will translate without using /html markups.

Amazingly Quiet Unit

Jeffrey T 3/30/2022

I replaced a failed unit with this one and bought it because of it's noise specifications. I am using it in my bedroom. Honestly, unless you are trying to hear it, it is drowned out by other household sounds. As others have said, it is no more noisy than a small air purifier. The cooling is even. More so than the unit that it replaced, which was another major name brand. I have had the unit for three months now. Very impressed. Longevity is yet to be determined and will update if it dies sooner than my experience with other window units.

Great A/C - Unless your window is exposed to the wind

LarryP345 3/23/2022

This AC is the most amazingly quiet AC I have ever owned. UNLESS the window it's installed in happens to be exposed to the wind. When it is windy outside this AC makes an annoying, squeaky, flappy noise -- EVEN WHEN THE AC IS TURNED OFF. I called Frigidaire support and was told that this is a "feature" of this AC and suggested I wrap it on the outside during the months I am not using it as that will prevent the noise. Problem is I live on the 6th floor of a NYC apartment building and wrapping an AC from the outside is not really practical. I am very sorry I bought this.

This is hands down the most quiet air conditioner I have ever experienced!! Needed a new one for my bedroom and so happy this is the one I chose. No more waking up from a loud compressor. Keeps my room cooler on a higher setting than a lower setting on my old one by 10 degrees.I couldn™€™t be more pleased with my purchase.

Third times a charm, until it wasn't

Hotter in Texas 8/28/2021

We ordered through Kohl's because they were offering a great price. The first unit was damaged in shipping, so we returned it. The second one worked great for about a week, then there was a loud banging noise, so we returned that one too. And then we thought, maybe third times a charm? Very pleased with how well it cooled and the voice control through the app and Google worked, a little weirdly, but it worked. Then the app quit working with Google Home and we could never get it connected again. And now after almost 2 years, it quit cooling. Should work many years for the price we paid for this piece of crap. Complete waste of money.

Good air conditioner. Terrible user interface. Also possibly damaged in shipping?

Lee_in_Portland 8/12/2021

Purchased for energy efficiency rating and promise of quiet. QUIET was especially important because I'm using this in our main bedroom. It's great for being quiet. But not in many other areas.Front panel - "Buttons" are perfectly smooth touch controls with no tactile feedback. Captions are tiny silvery grey text on a white shiny background. Hard to see in the best lighting, impossible in low light. They do beep though when you touch them, and indicator lights come on for a moment after each touch. The indicator lamps to show mode & fan speed are tiny LED "dots" placed above similarly tiny grey text - rather than lighting the text, there's just a glowing dot above it, and there's a big temprature display that lights up in the middle. Now, recall that this is in a bedroom. The beeps are loud. The lights are bright enough to read by. Turning it on or off or adjusting a mode at night is disruptive to anyone else's sleep. The included remote control is not much better. I ended up using the WiFi app almost exclusively, but had to disable all content blockers and security features on my iPhone to let it "talk" to both the AC and Frigidaire's server. It still loses connection frequently and turning the AC off and back on is the only fix. The scheduling feature is helpful but *also* makes the AC beep and the display light up as mentioned above. So if you have it schedued to change modes after you've gone to sleep - well, you won't be asleep when the event triggers. And lastly - the unit I got from Amazon was broken in a similar way noted by another reviewer here. A gap where the front panel fits in place, some plastic pieces where cracked off along the bottom below where the filter door opens, and a sheet metal screw fell out from ... somewhere? Because the AC works and the damage seems mainly cosmetic - and it took WEEKS to get the unit shipped - I just shrugged and made it work. But now that I see others have gotten damaged units, AND Frigidaire acknowledged it, I'd like to follow up with them to see if anything can be done.In summary: Cool and quiet. Good for any room other than a bedroom, as long as you have good eyesight and good lighting. Be sure to unpack and check for damage carefully.

High pitch noise

JoelG 8/7/2021

The first unit sent to us by Home Depot arrived with a gap in the front part of the vent. I could see broken plastic pieces that were supposed to be connecting to the faceplate. The replacement unit also had issues (see photo). I was able to shift the pieces together, however, to "repair" it. I didn't see any broken connecting pieces as with the first unit. But after installing the AC, there is a painful (though not very loud) high pitch whine anytime the compressor is running. It seems to be only when the temp isn't set much lower than the room temp, and the compressor is not working very hard. If you set the temp really low and the fan on medium or higher, it goes away. The high frequency noise really ruins an otherwise quiet AC. I can't take being in the same room with it for very long. I've given it 2 or 3 days and it's not going away. Frigidaire: Is this a defective unit? I don't know whether to try a THIRD unit or not, as it seems like there's no quality control for these, and perhaps the next unit could be even worse.

So quiet!

jimbob88 7/3/2021

My husband installed this unit two days ago. He needed help carrying it upstairs since it weighs 63 lbs. He and his friend installed it fairly quickly. Directions were clear but not needed. It took them about 20 minutes to install and another 10 minutes to place weather stripping. We have 3 other window air conditioners and this one is by far, the quietest. I really like that! I also like the remote control features. I haven't set up the WIFI yet, so I can't speak to that. Unit seems to cool well and we like it very much. I would recommend it.

AC doesn™€™t cool, app doesn™€™t work

Badacbadac 6/21/2021

Received and looked good out of the box. First problem - app wouldn™€™t connect to the AC, WiFi functionality not working. Talked to customer support, they didn™€™t know what was wrong either. Said they would start a ticket but offered no solution (and I am still waiting to get an email confirmation that the ticket was started). Okay, whatever. I can use the remote. Turn it on and realize it doesn™€™t really get cold. 15 minutes later it gives an error message saying there is no refrigerant in the AC. Again, this is supposed to be brand new. Call customer support, they say there™€™s nothing they can do, just return it. I™€™m scared to return since it seems like quality control is not really there. Should probably just get a refund. This supposed WiFi AC does not work either as WiFi connected or as an air conditioner. I knew I was taking a gamble on something with so few reviews. Don™€™t make the same gamble as me. Do not buy this AC

Frigidaire needs to make a 6,000 BTU version

Why are you ignoring people who have smaller rooms? A 6,000 BTU version would also draw fewer amps, which is very important if you live in an apartment.

Great AC Unit

Zynif 5/25/2021

I seen the 1 star reviews about remote and Wi-Fi but honestly I wouldn't pay them no mind. The new app and Wi-Fi setup process isn't the simplest to do but once setup it works. You need to use the application to setup the Wi-Fi on the unit and after it's connected I had to unplug the unit from the wall for a minute and plug it back in to reboot the Wi-Fi in the unit. Then I closed the app on my phone and reopened it and it has worked every time I needed to use it. The remote works fine as well and a neighbor who has this unit had issues with his remote due to him ripping the tab piece out to quick and ripping it and not fully removing it from the tray so the battery was not making contact. Overall though the unit has been great and does a wonderful job. I love being able to set up schedules for it as well.

No remote connectivity!

I_Need_Air 5/23/2021

iOS app has 1.3 stars because of constant connectivity issues. Make sure to read those reviews before buying this A/C to know what you're getting yourself into. If I can't connect remotely to the A/C why bother getting a WiFi enabled one? Just buy a regular A/C and save lots of money. I would love to turn on the A/C when leaving work and by the time I get home it would be nice and cool. This doesn't provide the solution since it can't reliably connect from the app.

Not worth it

Unhappywthispurchase 5/23/2021

The new app is a useless piece of garbage. The whole point of buying a WiFi enabled unit is to be able to control it through the app when we are not home. The app does not load, constantly says "unable to connect to cloud. Please try again later." And ACs keep disconnecting from the app. The older app at least worked. Save your money and buy sometimes else if you intend to use the WiFi function.
